Chinese Premier meets German Chancellor in Germany

Chinese Premier meets German Chancellor in Germany
Berlin, Germany, European Union 28 June 2011
As a last stop of his European tour, Chinese Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao met German Chancellor, Angela Merkel in Berlin, where they discussed prospective bipartite investments.

The meeting concluded with several trade deals and an agreement for establishing special government consultations in the future to discuss a whole range of topics: investments, trade, environmental protection, human rights, education, etc.

Germany has been the greatest trading partner of China within the EU in the last few years, as an increasing number of German companies extend their operational and manufacturing sites to China, seeking more market for high-tech goods.

Despite differing sentiments on political systems, or the fear of losing know-how to the competition, both countries are beginning to see the mutual benefit of two-way trading.

While in 2010, bilateral trade amounted 130 billion euro, it is expected to increase to 200 billion euro by 2015.
